A proposal for a contemporary library within the heart of downtown Cambridge Ontario, In The Knoll imagines a space where greenery and community can come together in a building that feels both secluded from, and connected to its unique riverside site. Located next to a pedestrain bridge on the East side of the Grand River, the most striking feature of the library’s design is not the building itself, but the greenspace which it is built into. Two traingular mounds of earth sit on the site, extending the gentle hill of the neighboring river embankment into the building’s lot.
